Chronicle Book's Happy Haul-iDays Giveaway

I'm sure you've seen this fabulous holiday giveaway sponsored by Chronicle Books. I just love their books and have reviewed several of their cookbooks as part of my Weekend Cooking feature.

Here's how the giveaway works: I simply make a list of Chronicle Books that I'd like to own -- up to $500 in value -- and submit my link to the Chronicle site and I and one of my readers will then have a chance to win every single book listed here in this post.

How's that for a holiday treat! Here are the books I'm hoping to win. Look over the list and see how you too can be entered to win all of these books and journals and stationary.

For more information about each title, click the links.

Michael Chiarello's Bottega ($40), Skinny Dips ($19) The Commonsense Kitchen ($35), The Country Cooking of Ireland ($50)

New Vegetarian ($20), Slow Cooker ($25), Wine Lover's Cookbook ($25), Savory Baking ($25)

Cooking for Two ($20), Sunday Soup ($20), Big Night In ($25)

Lace Knitting to Go ($17), Gift of Wine (this is a craft book; $15)

Beatles Anthology ($60), The Life and Love of Trees ($50)

Repro Notebooks ($13), Mini Journals ($15), Book Journal ($11), Mix and Match Stationery ($9)

There you have my list -- a whooping $495 worth of books and notebooks and one craft kit. Wow!

Here's how you can have a chance to win these books. First the contest is sponsored by Chronicle Books and is open only in the United States (full rules here). Second you must leave a comment here (Chronicle will pick someone from the comments) -- I'd love it if you told me if you will keep all the books yourself or will give some away as gifts. Third you must provide a valid email address (or make sure it's in your profile). Winners will be announced on December 13.

Good luck to us all! And thank you to Chronicle Books. Oh and don't forget to look around at other blogs for different books and more chances to win.

I would keep all of the cooking books, but I'd probably give away all of the rest, because I'd like to think that I would use them, but I really wouldn't ever.

Lori L 11/14/10, 4:43 PM

Great list! We share a couple titles, Trees and Sunday Soups.

Kelly 11/14/10, 4:44 PM

Nice selections!

Aarti 11/14/10, 4:46 PM

Oooh, I'd keep all the books except the Beatles anthology, which I'd give to one of my friends. I would also probably give away some of those very pretty notebooks :-)

Sheltiemama 11/14/10, 4:50 PM

I'd give some, like the wine books, to friends I know would enjoy them. But the Beatles book would be mine!

What great books you selected!! I would love all those wonderful cook books, mostly for myself, but would share with a granddaughter who is just beoming interested in cooking. Another granddaughter likes to write and I would share notebooks and the mini journal set with her. What fun it would be!

So excited about the cookbooks!!! Skinny Dips looks good!

Lenore Appelhans 11/14/10, 5:08 PM

Great picks! I have to do this too. I am visiting Chronicle this friday, so I'll do it after that :)

Lynne Perednia 11/14/10, 5:28 PM

My SIL and I could have joint custody of the cookbooks and take turns having the other family over for dinner.

DarcyO 11/14/10, 5:34 PM

What a great list! There's plenty for me and my family to love on it. I like the cooking and wine books and the Beatles book would be great for my sis.

Your selections have made me hungry. Yum!

Kristen 11/14/10, 5:41 PM

Great list and the cookbooks are mouthwatering. I'd probably keep most of them myself but since I already own a few of them, I'd pass those along to friends or family.

Anonymous,  11/14/10, 5:46 PM

I would keep some and pass on some to spread the love around. What is the most fun is picking who would get each give-away as well as leaving some for a blog give away. I haven't done that yet and it would be exciting to start.

JulieC,  11/14/10, 6:04 PM

So many wonderful books! I can think of the perfect person /family for almost everyone on my list, but I would have to keep Sunday Soups and the journals for myself!

Gwen@ChewDigestBooks.com 11/14/10, 6:32 PM

Oh, I hadn't seen The Country Cooking of Ireland before when I looked through their books!

On a semi-unrelated note, I love how you organized this post. I did one and struggled with it so much that I didn't end up even near the $500.

Linda Henderson 11/14/10, 7:34 PM

I would keep a few of the cooking books then give some to my daughters so they could learn some new recipes for their families. I'd give the knitting book to my sister, she's very good with crafts.

What a great list! If I won I'd (read thru them all!)keep a couple and give the rest away on my blog - bookdiary2010.blogspot.com

I really want that tree book. How beautiful it is, I bet!!

caite 11/14/10, 8:29 PM

Does it count as 'giving away' if I give them away after I look at them...maybe copy some recipes from the cookbooks? I think so...
And of course I will have to keep a few for myself. That Irish one will be staying...and the Slow Cooker and maybe Chiarello's...

bermudaonion 11/14/10, 8:53 PM

Wow, what a fabulous giveaway! I would probably share the cookbooks with my sister and I would definitely give the craft books away. milou2ster(at)gmail.com

Emily Rogers 11/14/10, 9:29 PM

What a great giveaway! I would keep most of them, especially the 'Cooking for Two'. The Lace Knitting book would have to go to my mom, Trees to my dad and Beatles Anthology to my cousin, they would love all of those ones. Thanks again!

What a super list of books. I'll bet you had a ball putting your list together. You picked The Best cookbooks. I'm amazed at each title. But, I also like your craft books and the journals. If I were to win, I'd read and share them on my blog. But then I'd share them with others as gifts and giveaways.

I would keep all the cookbooks. What a treasure it would be. I have been collecting cookbooks since I was 12 years old. I love them. The lace knitting would go to my son. He learned to knit, because it helps him with dexterity problems he has. He would really like it.The journals would be great, because I encourage my son to write what he has gone through. Thanks for this really generous giveaway.

Someone bought me Books to Checkout as a gift once! I just love Chronicle Books, their wonderful sense of design and wonderful ideas for books always make me stop and look and usually buy when I see one of their books! I love that they started in on YA books last year too!

Leslie (Under My Apple Tree) 11/15/10, 11:05 AM

We must have similar tastes because I would want to keep almost every one of those books. I'd let people borrow them of course!

I have a few cookbooks on my list too along with gardening and bird books.

Happy 11/18/10, 11:20 AM

Wow! This is the motherload of all giveaways! How nice of Chronicle books and you to do this, thank you.
I would give all of the beautiful cookbooks to my brothers and sisters. I am the odd man out in a family of foodies so they would love these books and I will love their using them! All of the journals and the lace book would be for me. I am a paper hound and a devoted knitter. The Beatles and Trees? I have all the good intensions of gift giving but will I be able to put it into practise with such gorgeous books? We shall see.

Serena 11/18/10, 1:07 PM

What a great list of cookbooks...that country cooking in Ireland and the slow cooker cookbook caught my eye from this list.

Wonderful!

savvyverseandwit AT gmail

Heather 11/18/10, 2:29 PM

What a terrific selection of books. I'd feel guilty if I were to keep such an excess of amazing books. As much as I love ccokbooks, I would definitely have to share with some of my friends' hubbies who are wonderful cooks. They do invite us to dinner every so often, so I would still benefit from the win.

alas, I don't live in the US, but I still wanted to comment. Congrats to Chronicle Books for being so generous in their sponsoring of contests.

Melissa§,  11/18/10, 4:08 PM

I would keep the journals, but would definitely pack up the cook books and send them to my mom!
I can't cook to say my life...

Dawn @ sheIsTooFondOfBooks 11/18/10, 9:10 PM

I'd keep the kit to try, share the journals with my daughter, and split the cookbooks with my sister (she doesn't eat meat, so I'd divide the cookbook loot based on content).

Happy haulidays!

Hannah 11/18/10, 10:39 PM

This is a great list. I would keep many, especially some of the cookbooks and journals and spread the wealth. I know someone who would be thrilled with each of these titles.

Thanks!
