Today's Read: Diamond Ruby by Joseph Wallace

MizB at Should Be Reading hosts Teaser Tuesdays. Here's how it works: Grab your current read; let the book fall open to a random page; and share 2 “teaser” sentences from that page. For more teasers, click on through to MizB's blog.

Here's mine:

It was a hot, sticky August day, the kind where you'd break into a sweat merely by thinking about moving. The neighborhood dogs lay flat in patches of shade like dead things, and even the crows searching for scraps on the lawn seemed listless and out of sorts. Ruby thought the blank blue-gray sky itself must be perishing of thirst.

Mama called it sickness weather. (p. 19)

I've seen only rave reviews on this book, yet it still sits on my shelf unread.....sigh (soon I hope)

I still remember Julie's review of this book. She sorta made it feel like my life would not be complete unless I read this! I still intend to get to it, in fact I'm putting it on my Xmas list!

Try again--Thank you so much, B.F.! (And you too, Julie, for your own marvelous early review.) For me, the best thing about the new world of social media has been getting to meet bloggers, readers, and other writers. No more sitting alone in a garret...

I remember days like that, can't say I miss them. I'm much more a fall girl than a summer one! Great teaser:)

Sounds alllllllll too familiar. Living in Alabama, I'm glad we're finally getting into some pleasant weather.

Great descriptive tease, I can almost feel that heat!

The setting is definitely not Denmark today. We just got the first bit of very wet snow.

I have wanted to read this book ever since it came out. I even took it to the beach with me, but alas, I haven't gotten to it yet. Now you've reignited the desire to get my hands on it again. Guess I better go to the library!
