If you enlarge the photo, the effect is better. This is a log from a diseased elm that used to be in our yard. My husband cut the tree down last year, but I just thought to photograph the logs a few days ago. I used a super-macro setting.

Looks like a landscape - very cool!!

Dutch Elm Beetle! That's painful to look at but nicely photographed. I lost two mature elms to Dutch Elm disease two years ago and I still miss them.

The photo is very impressive and interesting. It looks like a aerial view of the desert. But it is sad that the tree got sick and had to be cut down.

I would have never guessed that was wood, if you hadn't said. Looks like a landscape. Very cool!

At first I thought this was animal tracks LOL

Sandy Nawrot 4/18/12, 7:09 AM

I'm not sure I would have known what that was if you hadn't told us!

Even enlarged, it looks like a landscape taken from an airplane. I love the shot (but not the fact you lost a tree to disease.)

Happy WW!

cool! I couldn't quite decide what it was, something very close or something very far.

Shame it's diseased but what a cool shot. I'd never have guessed tree, I love the textures, really interesting picture!

At first glance I thought it was a close-up of freshly raked earth. Wonderful photo!

When I first looked at it, I thought you'd taken a picture from an airplane. Great perspective!

Karen Harrington 4/18/12, 9:07 AM

I thought the same thing as Beth. If you'd asked me to guess what it was, I would never have guessed a tree!

Dawn @ sheIsTooFondOfBooks 4/18/12, 9:07 AM

That's great - it does look like some type of landscape taken from the air! Nature is *amazing!*

Zibilee 4/18/12, 9:11 AM

I agree with Dawn, this does look like a landscape taken from an airplane or something. Very cool photo today!

I was going to say that's a knotty shot but its not knots, its rot .. ugh ..a very good ugh ..

Wow. I would never have guessed if you hadn't explained.

Linda 4/18/12, 12:59 PM

Wow. I agree with everyone who said it looks like landscape!

Jenners 4/18/12, 1:07 PM

I thought it was an aerial view of a desert!

Awesome photo. I thought it was an aerial view at first as well. Neat. Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier. Happy WW!

Melissa 4/19/12, 12:26 AM

What a great shot! It really does look an aerial view of a landscape.

Interesting shot. Honestly, couldn't figure out why you were taking pictures of animal poop. :0 Then I saw the title. It gets more fascinating the more look at it.
