I know that the 1996 Hollywood version of Emma with Gwyeneth Paltrow was not everyone's favorite, but I really loved it. I thought it was nicely filmed and easy and fun to watch.
The Assessment. I am sure that Emma would be drinking tea with breakfast, although I'm not sure she would have been drinking this particular tea. Cher would have gone for a latte.

ReplyDeleteHave only seen Clueless, but loved it! I went with Pumpkin Spice coffee this morning. Might switch to some tea later. Although I have mango green iced tea in the frig.
ReplyDeleteI've seen Clueless a thousand times-I love it. I've never been able to watch the entire version of Emma w/Gwenyth Paltrow. My sisters both think I'm crazy for not liking it.
ReplyDeleteI've watched all the Emma's but somehow I loved Gwyneth Paltrow's take. She brought in so much self-deprecating charm to the role.
ReplyDeleteCan't for the version as well! I've seen all three, liked them all. I think that I've been exposed to Clueless most as it was a favorite of my daughter when she was younger.

ReplyDeleteI did not like Clueless at all, it was too irritating, may be I should look into the other 2 adaptations.
I have seen all 3 versions but I still adore Clueless. It was so much fun.

I'm with you - I liked the 1996 Emma a lot as well as Clueless. I haven't seen the Masterpiece Theatre version but I'm sure it's good as they do everything so well.
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of your English Breakfast tea. We're in Portland, Oregon where it is chilly and usually rainy and I think this would be the perfect place to drink it.
You know what your post just did to me?

I'm excited about the new one, too! I liked the Gwyneth version mostly, I admit, because of Jeremy Northam. What a fabulous Knightley. The BBC version was probably more realistic, but I found the Knightley in that one FAR too harsh a character. He wasn't very sympathetic.

ReplyDeleteI've seen all of those versions of Emma. I think the Gweneth Paltrow version is probably the best, although for some reason she seems like a strange Emma to me.

I really enjoy the Emma with Gwyneth Paltrow. It's light, funny and very enjoyable. The PBS version is more serious, a bit more accurate and very good. I haven't seen Clueless in years. It's a very cute film, from what I remember and Alicia Silverstone does a great job.

I haven't had Stash Teas. I like Twinings English Breakfast Tea and Irish Tea and drink them a lot especially in Fall & Winter.

ReplyDeleteI've only seen Clueless and even that I haven't seen in a while. I just watched the trailer for it and wow...I just don't remember it being SO '90s! So cheesy...so good.
ReplyDeleteI've not seen the PBS adaptation yet so I may have to give it a try. I did see Emma (one of my favorites that I still watch every now and again when it's on) and I adored Clueless. It was such a fun take on the story. I wonder how many girls it got interested in classic literature :)

ReplyDeleteI've also seen Kate Beckinsale's Emma but still preferred G. Paltrow's version. :)
As for Clueless, I'm still looking for the DVD.
