As was my habit, I avoided looking at the historic buildings along King Street. . . . I supposed the buildings were beautiful in their own antique, money-sucking way, but it was what I saw sometimes peering out at me from old shop windows that kept my eyes focused straight ahead. It was the same with hospitals. I had to wear earphones just to block out the sounds of the voices from people only I could see. I love the sounds of this book. Not heard of this before (that's why I so love surfing through blogs; I get such good suggestions! Looking for this at my library as soon as I'm done. My teaser is from "Love Tag," by Peter Shianna, which reminds me somewhat of Ordinary People in that it's about families and issues and trouble, etc. Enjoyable read -- puts a different spin on the mix of pride, revenge and ambition.
ReplyDeleteFrom page 139: [[Would David’s birth mother cause trouble? Would she want to see him again and maybe get involved with his life? The maternal instinct was unpredictable. David didn’t need any more complications and could certainly do without torn loyalties.]]
Put it on hold! Thanks for the suggestion. And happy Turkey day everyone.
