Today's Read: An Irish Country Girl by Patrick Taylor

MizB at Should Be Reading hosts Teaser Tuesdays. Here's how it works: Grab your current read; let the book fall open to a random page; and share 2 “teaser” sentences from that page. For more teasers, click on through to MizB's blog.
"Always remember," [Da would] say to her, "when you're telling a really good story, there's no law to stop you making things up. If you've got their attention, they're not going to be thinking about whether you actually know what one of your characters was feeling and thinking inside. They'll believe you do if you say it convincingly. You're spinning them a dream, and we all do love good dreams, so." (p. 24)

  3. Except if the story goes on forever, the listeners are bored to tears. I rally liked this book from page 106. The first 105 made my eyes glaze over.

Have a great week and happy reading! Here's my teaser

  6. I listened to the first three in the series, and then (thrill of thrills!) the publisher offered me the last one, plus all four to offer as a giveaway! I love the books so much, I went out and bought the first three so I could read them again and again.

"Making up things" sounds so deceptively simple :D

  9. I love a good storyteller - I have a southern family full of them. I wish I had inherited that natural ability. It is so enchanting - the character is right, no one stops to think if what you say is valid or not, as long as it is interesting!

  12. That's pretty good advice. Making things up is what good storytelling is all about, isn't it? Of course, some writers are better at "spinning dreams" than others. What a great teaser!
