All foodies, young and old should spend an evening with Remy, a French wannabe chef, who just happens to be a rat. Although he grew up in a family that believed in eating garbage, Remy has a dream. He was born with a palate for the finer things in life.Unfortunately, his father and the rest of his ratty community doesn't understand, and Remy is an outcast. When he ends up in Paris, he stumbles across Gasteau's restaurant, where he secretly fixes a soup made by the inept sous-chef named Linguini.
Boy and rat team up in hopes of becoming the greatest of all French chefs. But will they be able to hide from Remy's rat family, the sleazy owner of the restaurant, and the fearsome food critic Anton Ego?
Pixar's Ratatouille is a don't-miss foodie film for the whole family. If you have passed this one by because you're not a fan of animation or if you thought it would be geared to too young of an audience, think again. Whip up a batch of ratatouille to quiet the food critics in your house, pour yourself some great wine, and then sit down to watch this charming movie.
I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this movie....and have not seen it.

This is a very cute film. We haven't watched it for awhile though! Kids are obsessed with Harry Potter right now. I'll be back tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteI've seen this movie several times as it was a favorite with my granddaughters a couple of years ago. For some reason I didn't think of it as a "food film" until now. (Not sure where my brain is.) I'm going to have to watch it again just for myself and the food factor. That's hot a hardship as that's a fun movie.

ReplyDeleteRatatouille (the film) is a favorite around here, and one of the few movies that all kids can agree on when we placate them with a movie in the car for those 4-hour drives to J's family.____

I've only seen bits of this movie, along with bits of The Tale of Despereaux, and they are hopelessly mixed together in my head.

ReplyDeleteOh we just loved this movie! I guess it was the combination of Pixar magic, and the cooking, that really appealed to me. I don't like rats, but I'd welcome that one into my kitchen anyday!

I know a couple of people at least who were a bit freaked out by all those rats in the kitchen, but I liked it! And ratouille is one of my favourite foods, so it was a double win for me!
