Tavie shielded her eyes from the glare on the water, leaning forward perilously as she peered into the nest of tree trunks and debris. When she stiffened, Kieran dropped to his knees beside her.—No Mark upon Her, by Deborah Crombie (HarperCollins / William Morrow, 2012)
Tavie turned to him, pushing him back as if she could keep him from seeing what she had seen. But it was too late.
Beneath the surface, tendrils of dark hair moved like moss, and white fingers, slightly curled, drifted back and forth as if waving, signaling for help. (pp. 44–45)

A murder mystery. I haven't read one in ages. Sounds intriguing though, so it might be time to reconsider that. :)

I like mysteries, but rarely am able to carry through to the 14th iteration. Must be a pretty interesting set of characters!
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser. This one sounds like an intriguing series...I'm going to check it out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog.
I've seen reviews of this, and the murder mystery lover in me has had it on the radar. If I let myself, I would read this genre forever and ever. (Still, I wouldn't scratch the surface of all the damned series!)
ReplyDeleteI read a review of this on another blog yesterday. Have not read any of the other books in the series, but this one does sound good! My post: Stitch Me Deadly by Amanda Lee.
ReplyDeleteEveryone seems to love this book!
ReplyDeleteOh what a creepy little snippet. This might make for a good read for me.

ReplyDeleteWow, that's not the sort of thing you want to see. Even if you're trained for it.
ReplyDeleteI've been hearing this one is good. And #14 in a series is always a good thing if I turn out to be a fan.
ReplyDeleteDo they stand alone well?
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser! I haven't read a good murder mystery in a long time. I think I'll have to try this series too. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI reviewed this book a few weeks ago. I just loved it, it's well written, the case and investigation are complex and the characters are well-developed and really interesting. I cannot wait to start the series from the beginning!
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it!
