I don't know why I waited so long to watch this fascinating look into the life of a genuinely nice man who has spent decades photographing people. Bill bicycles around New York observing the ordinary person on the street just as carefully as he looks at the rich and famous at a celebrity event. Out comes the camera at anything and everything that catches his eye: shoes, hats, jackets, color--whatever seems to be the trend of the day.
Even if you think you have no interest in photography, people watching, or fashion, you'll enjoy meeting Bill and seeing the city through his eyes in Bill Cunningham New York.

i am going to get Toonman to get this for us .. i love Bill and you're right, he gives us ordinary folk just as much attention as he does the Park Avenue Princesses and the other chic women and men of NYC .. i have no doubt if he saw you in something he thought was fashion forward you'd make the cut!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Wouldn't it be cool if we ran across Cunningham in New York?!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally enthralled with this man. I mean TOTALLY! Thank you so much for sharing this video. I'm in the editing cave and have lost touch with life outside my imagination, and this video was a delightful kick into reality.

ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE documentaries, but not everyone in my family is, so I have to space them out on Netflix. I'm going to add this one.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a fascinating book. I'm very much a people-watcher - will need to add this to my TBR.
