I took this shot in a bar in New York. It looked like the best seat in the house, but it was empty.

Oh I love this! and thanks for telling us the circumstances when you took it. It's a photo that could be the inspiration for a story.

Oooh, so mysterious and intriguing. I'm glad you shared where this was taken. Location makes all the difference. I agree - there could certainly be a very interesting story behind this. Great shot!!

I would not have guessed a bar. very mysterious.

Can I just curl up right there, with a book? Even though it's in a bar, it just looks so cozy! I love the lighting and composition, great shot.

I could picture some old reclusive man, sitting in that chair reading a book. (What a great shot).

I was imagining that it was a beloved reading spot for a jailer.

I'm trying not to think too much about the fact that the chair looks like a great spot for reading and that the chair is empty.

Here's my Wordless Wednesday. I hope you will stop by.

I love atmospheric shots, and this has plenty! Lovely.

Based on the "guest list" you tweeted, I would have guessed Muffie and Stuffie's (or whatever that place was called!)

I don't remember you taking the shot ... and it looks so EMPTY in the place. Very unexpected.

I didn't even notice that chair! You have a good eye :)

I'm guessing I wasn't there. I love the light in the photo!

Might be my fave Beth F photo.

I never would have thought a bar, looks like a great place to curl up with a book. And a Cosmo?

Great shot!

Secret Mom Thoughts 6/8/11, 8:47 AM

Looks like a great place to read a book!

Swapna 6/8/11, 8:53 AM

Amazing picture!! And I'm with Dawn - I can't remember the name of the place, so I will hilariously call it Muffie's and Stuffie's as well!!

Susan Adcox 6/8/11, 8:59 AM

Very inviting spot for a bit of a read and a glass of wine. I've been known to read in bars, but they are mostly too dark or too loud or both.

Col (Col Reads) 6/8/11, 9:05 AM

Fabulous shot! It has such a lonely look.

Jenn's Bookshelves 6/8/11, 9:17 AM

Oooh...I really like this one!

Beth Hoffman 6/8/11, 9:32 AM

Oh my, oh my ... I could write a short story just from the ideas that fantastic shot evokes!

Karen Harrington 6/8/11, 10:24 AM

Very nice and welcoming!

Zibilee 6/8/11, 10:41 AM

It does look like a great place to curl up with a book.

Debi 6/8/11, 11:28 AM

Ooooh, how I wish this spot was in my house! What an awesome photo!

colleen 6/8/11, 11:46 AM

Very inviting. A nice place to listen to music.

Joy Weese Moll 6/8/11, 12:47 PM

Beautiful capture of light. Wonderful mood.

Leslie (Under My Apple Tree) 6/8/11, 1:03 PM

Interesting shot. I would never have guessed it's in a bar.

It looks sad. I never would have guessed it was in a bar.

Unknown 6/8/11, 5:07 PM

Wow. That's a great atmospheric shot. :) Looks like a great place to ensconce yourself with a great book and a nice glass of single malt. :)

Robin M 6/8/11, 9:27 PM

Love it. Moody and mysterious writing could be done there.

Kwee Cats and Art 6/8/11, 9:30 PM

It DOES look like it would be the best seat in the place! Oh wow I like this picture. I could never tell the guy in the picture that is my WW, but I think I like yours even better than mine. :-o

Stan 6/8/11, 11:23 PM

That looks like the kind of place I like to be once the sun goes down. As for the Wienermobile, they told me there are several of them still running around the country. I too thought they were history, but proof to the contrary showed up right in my Reno neighborhood.

heavenisabookstore 6/8/11, 11:53 PM

That's beautiful! What a great find.

Anonymous,  6/9/11, 1:59 PM

What a cool shot! I am sure there is a story in that picture (if only I weren´t so busy preparing exams.....)

Marie 6/10/11, 10:34 AM

Dark and mysterious! I just love the lighting. Great find.

Jenners 6/10/11, 9:09 PM

This is a photo that could launch all kinds of short stories!

Alice 6/28/11, 9:42 AM

I like! Looks nice, cozy and warm...

Michelle 7/2/11, 9:09 AM

It looks like it would make a fantastic book cover! Great shot.
