BBAW: What I Want in an eReader

IREX Technologies is generously offering their one of their forthcoming consumer eReaders to one lucky BBAW participant. They ask us to tell them "what you think the most important feature is in an eReader." Enjoy!

What I'd Like to See in an eReader

I'd like to see a great touch screen
I think that you know what I mean.
My suitcase groans from just one more book
The nice light weight is one great hook.
Taking notes helps with reviews
A stylus feature is welcome news.
I come across a new word now.
A dictionary? Yes and wow!
Let me use my library card
Downloading from there is just not hard.
I want books from all over the place
No one store can hope to keep pace.
I love the trees, I love the shade
An eReader won't let them fade.
And finally when the mood hits me
I want to buy using fast G3.

Thanks to Irex and to BBAW!

  6. Aren't you just the creative one! I know that in the future, there will be a billion choices of these things. I do Love my Kindle, for many reasons. It is a book lovers joy.

  8. Love your creativity! I'm still skeptical on eReaders, though I know they definitely have their advantages. I'm just stubborn when it comes to giving up my books--it took me forEVER to want to listen to audio books! :-)

  9. I know several people with the Kindle. Mostly they like it, but the one thing they all say is this: It is really hard to get used to not knowing where you are in the book when reading. The physical clues are not there with the Kindle. Never tried one myself though. I may be old fashioned, but I even like the smell of a real book.

  10. Beth Fish's plea for an Irex eReader
is so clever ... will anyone beat her?

She hit all the features I'd want to see
And expressed it in a much more clever way than me

This BBAW was so much fun
With all the themed essays and books to be won

    eReader, hardcopy, audio, too
I see all these formats appeal to you

And so I wish you "good luck" in your quest
Your poetic entry is one of the best!

  11. love your poem, and I love my kindle. But I agree--I'd like all those things you pointed out. But for now I'll use what is available. Though this weekend in my surfing of the net I saw a pre-release version of Barnes and Nobles up-coming e-reader. I wonder if I should have waited?

  12. I am (obviously) soooo far behind! But I had to say I really liked your eReader wishlist ;o). I'm sticking with my iPhone (with Kindle and Stanza installed) until somebody comes out with a reader that lets me buy books from anywhere wirelessly (just like my iPhone does)! I'm glad there are other readers out there that want to see the same thing.
