American Civil War: Books

In today's Wall Street Journal, James McPherson lists his picks for the five best books on the American Civil War. Apparently he has a new book out: Tried by War: Lincoln as Commander in Chief.

Southern Lady, Yankee Spy, Elizabeth R. Varon
Civil Wars, George C. Rable
The Imagined Civil War, Alice Fahs
Team of Rivals, Doris Kearns Goodwin
