Challenge: New Authors

Ooops! I signed up for this this challenge a while back and forgot to write a post about it!

The New Authors challenge is hosted by Literary Escapism. The idea is simple: Read books written by new-to-you authors. The full rules and the other participants can be found here.

I signed up to read 25 books written by new-to-me authors. I'm not going to post a list because I have many new authors in my TBR stacks and on my wish list. I'm not sure which ones I'll get to in 2009!

Wow. That's a great challenge idea. If I wasn't already doing four, and working really hard on a degree and moving this year I might do it. Of course I don't think I could plan to and then read 25 books just for a challenge even if they were books I was interested in.
Good luck with the challenge.

I have a tendency to read new authors just by chance, so I'm not going to sign up for this challenge, but I think it is a good idea for a challenge, especially if a reader tends to read the same authors over and over (like with those neverending series). It is always so exciting to try something new!

Not making a list is the best part of this challenge IMO. You never know when you're going to come across someone new and exciting. Good luck!

Laza - that's exactly why I started this challenge in 2008. I only had a few authors (who had series) I was reading and I wanted to find more. I gave myself a goal of 50 new authors in 2008 and ended up with 53. I'm planning another 50 for 2009, but that's only because I have about 165 new authors on my TBR list.

I am a huge fan of series, which, as Jackie noted, tends to limit one's exposure to different authors. This challenge will help lift me out of the rut!

I'm excited about being a part of this challenge too. :-)
