It's Friday and I'm Late for Tea

Thursday Tea is hosted by Anastasia at Birdbrain(ed) Book Blog. I'm late for tea this week, but I'm hoping someone left me a scone or crumpet.

Here's how it works: Tell us what tea are you drinking (and do you like it)? And what book are you reading (and do you like it)? And if they go together.

The Tea

I was drinking Stash Tea's English Breakfast tea. And yes, I use tea bags! English breakfast tea is not my all-time favorite, but I was in the mood for it. I drink this tea black with no sugar.

The Book

I'm listening to a very British book: Queen Lucia by E. F. Benson, the first in a charming and funny series that is set in a small village in the 1920s. Lucia is the social director of the town and works hard to make sure she isn't toppled from her throne.

I first read this series in the early 1980s, and I've decided to see how the books hold up to audio. You'll have to come back for my review next week.

The Assessment

The tea and book go together well and remind me of my travels in the UK.

Is there a drink that goes well with the book you're reading now? Tea? Coffee? Milk? Or perhaps a stiff shot of whiskey is the only thing that will get you through!

What a cute meme! I love it!

I like this meme! I'm too boring to drink many different kinds of tea, I stick with the one I like and a couple of herbal varieties, but it's an awesome idea.

I have followed the meme - although not yet participated - since its inception. I LOVE the title of your post!!

Queen Lucia sounds very interesting and one that I might enjoy. I look forward to your review next week.

Very nice post. I've heard of Benson but never read her. I like the cover and look forward to your review.

I just saw this meme yesterday on another blog. What a great idea, I love tea and reading. I am a fan of English Breakfast tea and teabags! Queen Lucia sounds wonderful and perfect to listen to along with a cup of English Breakfast tea. I'll be looking forward to your review, it looks like I'll be adding this to my evergrowing wishlist!

That book sounds like it would be great for any kind of tea. I'm not much of a tea drinker, though.

Coffe goes with any book I read (to keep me awake, for comfort, or just because it is coffee time - which happens several times a day in this household).
But perhaps I should have tried whiskey with the one I finished yesterday. It was a debut, and the murderer as well as the police made all sorts of stupid mistakes.

Eek, I can't imagine drinking a tea without sugar. Every time I try I end up feeling really yucky and don't taste the flavor. :D You're braver than I am!

Thanks for playing TT this week! <3

I love this meme! Why haven't I seen it before? I'd love to participate, but tea and a book is aspirational for me at best! How about a book while the kids are screaming at me?

Coffee is for waking. Tea is for reading. Vermouth is for Hemingway.

English Breakfast Tea is about the only tea I like. A good book and Diet Coke is more my cup of tea.

This is a fun meme -- I think it's in its third week; I keep forgetting to post!

I drink a lot of different teas in the afternoon after I've gone through a pot of coffee. Hot in the winter, iced in the summer. So this will be fun.

Vermouth and whiskey both sound ok to me too! I'm not a cola drinker though.

This sounds like such a cute idea. Too bad I'm not a tea drinker! : )

I'm not a whiskey fan, but my current book might benefit from a shot. Anything to get the characters to talk more!

Penny 4/10/09, 10:25 PM

I'm thinking I need the whiskey shot as well. Le Morte D'Arthur is kicking my but 50 pages at a time! (Only 750 more to go!)

I have not seen this meme before, but what a cute idea. I have been collecting the Queen Lucia series over the past few years but I have yet to read them--I am saving them and waiting for that special occasion when I can savor the reading experience!
Looking forward to your review--

Latte early in the morning, and tea for afternoon tea. I don't mind tea bags as long as the tea is strong and aromatic. I drink Twinnings. :)

I have seen this meme on a couple of blogs now. I think I am going to have to dedicate Thursday afternoons to just reading (and drinking tea of course)and take part in this one!

Melody 4/13/09, 2:48 AM

That's a great meme!
I go for tea bags too!
