Challenge: Harry Potter

Okay, really, who can resist revisiting Harry? Michelle at GalleySmith is hosting a great challenge that will let me return to the world of muggles and wizards.

Although I read each book within a month of its publication, I have never listened to the fabulous Jim Dale narrate the books. I know, hard to believe that an audiobook nut like me hasn't listened to HP. Here's my chance to correct that failing.

The challenge runs from August 1, 2009 to July 31, 2010. Starting in September, I plan to listen to one Harry Potter book a month. I'm so excited!

Oh and did I mention that there will be prizes and gifts? Just sign up by August 15 to be in the running for the first giveaway: a complete set of the Harry Potter books. Awesome!!!

I've read the HP series three times through (except for the 7th book, which I've read only once), so when I saw this challenge, I just couldn't conceive of reading them yet again. But the audios? Hmmmm. That is an intriguing thought. Once I finish the Outlander Series on audio, whatever will I do with myself on my long walks? Gonna have to think this one over.

That sounds like a great idea to redo each by audio. I'd be curious to see how it compares to reading it!

Now that book 7 is out in paperback, maybe it's time for a re-read. It's been awhile.

My mother has the books on CDs and on her iPod (except 7). My dad just re-purchased all 7 on CD because she managed to scratch at least one disc per book, really bad. She listens to them while doing the laundry, crocheting, etc. She sleeps with her iPod, and I asked her if her dreams are narrated by Jim Dale. ;-)

Welcome aboard challenger! LOL

I was jut mentioning to another participant that I bought book one today. I'm thinking I'll do a combination of books and audio. I want to get a foundation before I put voices to the characters.

Good luck!

Stephen Fry narrates the audio version of HP that's available in the UK...well at least the first book which I bought on CD while I was there and have listened to multiple times. I can't imagine listening to anyone else do Harry.

This actually sounds like something I could do! I haven't read all the books so this might just be the way to get it done. Listening on the eliptical has to be easier than reading!! Thanks for the tip!

I just joined this challenge too! I've never "read" Harry Potter on audiobook, it would be interesting to see how they compare.

I'm glad you joined, Beth! I've to catch up on this series since I've only read three books of this series.
