Weekend Cooking: Review: My Foodie ABC by Puck

Weekend Cooking is open to anyone who has any kind of food-related post to share: Book (novel, nonfiction) reviews, cookbook reviews, movie reviews, recipes, random thoughts, gadgets, fabulous quotations, photographs. If your post is even vaguely foodie, feel free to grab the button and link up anytime over the weekend. Please link to your specific post, not your blog's home page. For more information, see the welcome post.

_______

When I saw the cover of this book, I knew I had to feature it on Weekend Cooking. What a perfect book for a child whose parents are adventuresome eaters. My Foodie ABC: Little Gourmet's Guide, written by Puck and illustrated by Violet Lemay is the food-lovers way to learn the alphabet.

This is not your A is for apple alphabet book. Instead, kids learn about bento boxes, empanadas, pomegranates, and vegetarians. This little board book covers the world of flavors and ways to eat. And to go along with each letter is a colorful and accurate illustration that is appealing to both kids and grown-ups.

I had a hard time deciding which pages to share with you because they are all great. I picked the letter A since it describes a cookie I've never heard of before. I knew I had to show you the letter F because it depicts one of the highlights of my week. I would like to point out that there are actually five or six backgrounds for the letters, from gingham checks to receipt pages. I didn't mean to show two wood-grained patterns.

Click on the scans to see them full size and to get an idea of the text. My only problem now is to decide if I want to keep the book for myself or pass it along to one of the little ones in my life.

That looks a lovely book, maybe just right for my little granddaughter.

My weekend cooking post today is on my new blog - Margaret's Miscellany - which is for everything except books (still on BooksPlease.)

I do hope you'll pop over to visit.

HOW creative!! I may have to pick this one up for future grandchildren to enjoy when they come over (because I am fairly certain I will not be able to let it out of my house!)

I love ABC books-this one has great illustrations. Great pick. I would have trouble giving it away myself.

Look like there are a lot of unusual words in this ABC book. I like the layout of the pages.
