Those do look like bird forms. Are they artifacts of the camera trying to capture fireworks?

Interesting effect. At first I thought you captured a colony of bats swarming the night sky.
It looks like bats to me, but I could have the Batman theme on the brain after reading Wayne of Gotham. LOL
Those really look like a product of the firework explosion - or maybe the previous one, smoke being lit by the flash. Either way, it is a wonderful shot!
