Best Young Adult and Middle Grade Books from 2013

It's time for my best-of 2013 lists! I will post four this year. Thursday was all about audiobooks, Friday was adult books, Saturday was food and cookbooks, and today is middle grade and young adult. Enjoy!

A note on my selections: The books that appear on this list were read by me in 2013 but may have been published earlier. I picked the books that resonated with me, without regard for the target audience. Books are presented alphabetically by title; links lead to my reviews or thoughts.

  1. I had two DNFs of your list! And didn't read the others! But usually we have more similar tastes! :--)

  2. I didn't realize that The Adoration of Jemma Hardy was a YA book. I've been captivated by the title since I first saw it earlier this year. That won't stop me from reading it. I find I like most YA books that I have picked up. Thanks for the list. Hope you have a great new year.

  3. I've really enjoyed every book in the Fox series, but none as much as The Adoration... I also listed Ocean at the End of the Lane in my favorites, but on audio.

  6. I had my introduction to Neil Gaiman this year with The Graveyard Book. It was on my list of favorite audios! So, I'm definitely game to check out more from him now. :-)

  9. I haven't read any of these but I do intend to get the audio of The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Can't go wrong with a Neil Gaiman book.

  13. Nice list. I've read three of the six and loved them. I know the loss of your mother-in-law has brought sorrow to you and your family, but I want to wish you and yours all the best in 2014 and beyond.
